Preparing the Environment
Before you can use the Purdue Penumbra environment to start working on your
projects or labs, you need to make sure that all configuration settings suit
your needs. If you do not verify the preference settings, it is probable that
Penumbra will not function correctly.
Verifying the Preference Settings
1. Open the Penumbra preferences by selecting
Window > Preferences > Penumbra >
Checkout/Submit. You should now see the following window.
2. The
Project Name Prefix
should be
project
and the
Number of Projects
should be
8.
3. This semester we will be using CVS in CS180 to submit projects for grading.
Make sure that the selected
Submit
Mode
is
CVS. Do not worry about the meaning of
CVS at this time.
4. The
CVS Host
should be set to
lore.cs.purdue.edu
and the
CVS Root
to
/homes/cs180/cvs .
5. Finally, you should specify your
User Name. You will have to use your
CS login
assigned by the Department.
6. Click
OK
to save the preference settings. This will close the window. You are now ready
to check out your first project.
